Thinkery Saver Chrome Extension Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 1, 2025
1. Introduction
Thinkery Saver (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a Chrome Extension (“Extension”) that lets users save the current page—with its URL, title, selectable text (or embedded YouTube video), and large images—to their Thinkery account at thinkery.co.uk.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension collects, uses, stores, and shares your data. By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Data We Collect
The Extension collects the following information only when you click the toolbar button:
- Page metadata: URL of the active tab; Title of the active tab.
- Page content:
- The first 50,000 characters of visible text, or an embedded YouTube iframe if on a YouTube watch page.
- URLs of any images on the page that are at least 400×400 pixels.
- User Code: A 5-character token that you enter once in the Extension’s Options page (stored locally in Chrome’s sync storage).
No other page data is collected. We do not capture cookies, browser history, or any personal information beyond what you explicitly send via the toolbar action.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Submission to Your Thinkery Account: When you click “Save to Thinkery,” we send the collected data to https://thinkery.co.uk/add.php via a POST request.
- Storage: Your 5-character token is stored in Chrome’s synchronized extension storage so you only need to enter it once. The Extension does not store any other data persistently on your machine.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
- Thinkery Server: All collected data is transmitted directly to and stored on Thinkery’s servers—you are the only party with access to it via your Thinkery account.
- No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your data with any external parties.
5. Security
- Transport Security: All data is sent over HTTPS (TLS) to the Thinkery server.
- Local Storage Security: Your 5-character code is stored encrypted by Chrome’s sync storage—only readable by this Extension.
6. Your Choices
- Disable or Uninstall: You can remove the Extension at any time via
chrome://extensions.
- Clear Stored Code: To change or remove your saved token, open the Extension’s Options page and overwrite or delete the 5-character code.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will post the revised policy at the same URL and update the “Effective date” above.
